helping motch labor

Tad and Fig came to see me today. While Hannah was taking a nap with Tad on her lap and Motch was reading the paper, Fig and I were bored and found something to do.
I really didn't want to destuff my bed because I sleep in it alot, but Fig talked me into it.

Did you notice that I'm not wearing a collar today? I got bit by some kind of bug in the bushes, and my neck is pretty red and sore, so Motch put some benedryl topical gel on my neck and took off my collar. I feel kind of naked.
Anyway, Fig and I got caught before the bed was completely destroyed, and look ~~~ I can still get inside of it.
Motch put down the paper and pulled out her needle and thread. Besides the bed, she got to sew together my loofa and the new racoon that Stella gave me. She sure muttered and complained as she did her work. She's no seamstress, so I wonder how long her stitches will hold...

I hope you're all having fun this labor day weekend, too!

That was very helpful, Petra. Clearly Motch needed some labor for Labor Day to be a success and reading the paper hardly qualifies!

I was very helpful while my mom was preparing for Hurricane Gustav. I dug a big hole in the backyard while she moved everything inside.

Uh,Petra, have you noticed everytime you listen to Fig, somthing seems to get all tore up or 'splodes or something?
Good thing you don't have our Mom. She can't sew a stitch!

Happy Labor Day! (And go easy on the bed. You gotta sleep in there!)

Hugs
Sunny, Scooter & Jamie (who can't sew!)

Petra Girl!

If I were there I'd give you a big goober smooch right where the evil bug bit you, and I bet my goober juice would make the itching stop. I hope you get to wear you collar again soon.

You and Fig are a lethal combination. Good thing Tad was with Hannah, or maybe you would have tried to destuff him.

Goober love,
Stanley

Lucy is real impressed with your work. She destuffed my bed just yesterday but D put it all back together for me. She didn't do as good a job as Motch though.
Hope your neck feels better soon Petra.

We are not having near as much fun over here. Fig is so cool, she has the best ideas!!

You know what they say... a busy human is a good human. Good thinking for keeping your people in check. I think sewing is kind of like a treat-filled puzzle toy for humans. It's can be nice to get them out of your fur for a few minutes.

That is one A-OK job on that bed. You two really do a terrier proud. I hope you didn't eat any of the stuffing and get plugged up.

Hey Sad-Tummy Petra,

It's quite normal for your poops to be "less than ideal" when switching to a food like Innova Evo. It's extremely high protein and has no fillers - your body probably isn't used to it yet if you were on grain-inclusive (corn, most likely) food before.

Imagine if dairy was the healthiest thing for our people to eat, but their whole lives they only ate a tablespoon of it every day. Then suddenly they got the good stuff all the time. Their tummy enzymes would be all out of whack and not balanced for this new way of feasting. The same thing is happening with you, only replace dairy with meaty deliciousness. Mmmm....

Simple digestive enzymes would probably help. My folks get the cheap "365" brand from Whole Foods and Pupi and I get a 1/2 pill each in our meals. You may only need a 1/4 pill or less (too many enzymes can cause poopy problems - you need to find a balance). It's about $6 for a bottle, look for the yellow label. As time goes on they can taper you off it. Your body will eventually adjust but it can take up to 6 months in some dogs after a dramatic diet change.

It's worth sticking it out to see how you do. That being said, if you're not improving in another week or so we should look at a possible allergy. We can cross that bridge later if we need to.

Hope that helps!

You make me laugh Petra! You should probably not destuff your bed though. Where would you sleep?
If my collar comes off I go nuts until someoneputs something back on me. I have a chain collar that I had to use when I left the rescue place and if I have a bath and need to go without a collar on, Mom and Dad HAVE to put that on or I go crazy. I hate being naked! It takes Mom a long time if she has to adjust my collar for length because I try to slip my nose in it while she's adjusting it.
